

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed his government’s strong commitment to revitalising the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), highlighting remarkable progress in production and central support worth ₹11,440 crore.During a review meeting held at the Secretariat, Naidu expressed satisfaction over the plant’s turnaround, noting that its capacity utilisation had risen from 25% last September to 79% this year. He credited this progress to the combined efforts of the Central government, State departments, management, and workers.
Naidu stressed the need for continued cooperation to bring the plant fully out of financial strain. He directed officials to achieve 92.5% capacity utilisation by the third quarter of FY2026, ensuring that the plant operates at near-full potential.According to official sources, the sanctioned central assistance has been primarily used for operational revival and efficiency upgrades. Naidu praised the “collective spirit” that helped restore momentum and urged all stakeholders to sustain the same coordination in the coming months.
