Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu strongly criticised former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of falsely claiming credit for the construction of the Bhogapuram International Airport. Speaking to the media on Sunday, Appalanaidu said that Jagan did nothing beyond a symbolic inauguration before elections and is now attempting to appropriate the credit earned through the efforts of N. Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that the former CM is once again displaying political opportunism by trying to rewrite facts.
The MP stated that the Bhogapuram airport project was conceptualised and land acquisition completed during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure, but was stalled after Jagan came to power due to court cases and controversies. He recalled that Jagan and his party had earlier opposed the project, questioning the need for such a large airport and instigating farmers against it. Appalanaidu further noted that former Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju secured central approvals, while the Manas Trust donated 120 acres of valuable land for an aviation education city. He demanded that Jagan stop claiming others’ achievements and apologise to the people of North Andhra for the injustice done to the region.
