Mojtaba Khamenei Survived Second Strike at Tehran Hospital

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei survived a second strike after being wounded in the February 28 U.S.-Israeli attacks that killed his father, former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Mohsen Heydari, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts. Speaking to Qatari broadcaster Al Araby, Heydari claimed Mojtaba was taken to a hospital after the initial attack, but the facility was subsequently hit. He said Mojtaba was rescued alive from the rubble and moved to a secure location for treatment. @theweek

Heydari further claimed that three hospitals in Tehran were struck after Mojtaba was injured and that he was inside the third facility when it was hit. He also said Mojtaba was unaware that he had been selected as Iran’s next Supreme Leader until the announcement was made publicly. Earlier reports and Iranian officials had confirmed that Mojtaba was injured in the February 28 strike, although accounts differ over the severity of his injuries.
