Twelve years ago, ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat and the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, reportedly met actor Thalapathy Vijay in a hotel in Coimbatore. At that time, the meeting was seen as a casual, non political interaction between a rising national leader and a popular film star with no political role.
In May 2026, the situation has changed significantly as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. Vijay, now a democratically elected leader, presented a detailed memorandum seeking central support for infrastructure, financial allocations, and state related issues. The contrast between their earlier informal meeting and today’s official engagement has drawn wide political attention.
