Telangana Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka expressed serious concern over the Podu land dispute in Manubothulagudem village of Ashwapuram mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Soon after receiving information about the incident, she spoke with the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to review the situation. She also discussed the matter with Forest Minister Konda Surekha, urging officials to resolve the issue amicably and ensure that any allegation of excesses by officials during duty is thoroughly investigated. Seethakka reiterated that the government is committed to protecting the legal rights of eligible tribal families cultivating Podu lands.
Responding to Seethakka's request, Forest Minister Konda Surekha directed senior forest officials to submit a detailed report on the incident without delay. She emphasised that while the government remains committed to protecting forests, equal importance will be given to safeguarding the livelihood and legal rights of tribal communities, including the Gutti Koya people. The ministers stressed that no fresh encroachments on forest land would be encouraged, but genuine concerns of forest-dependent tribal families would be addressed with compassion and in accordance with the law.
