Amid growing discontent among legislators within the All India Trinamool Congress, party chief Mamata Banerjee has initiated corrective measures by reducing the exclusive authority of her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. Reports suggest that several MLAs expressed dissatisfaction over Abhishek’s increasing influence within the party. In response, Mamata appointed Derek O'Brien and Dola Sen as National Joint Secretaries, signaling a more balanced leadership structure. Senior leader Chandrima Bhattacharya was also appointed as the party’s state president.
The reshuffle is being viewed as an effort to strengthen internal unity and address concerns raised by party members. Meanwhile, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly strongly denied reports claiming that he had asked Berhampore MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan to resign. Ganguly described the reports as completely baseless and irresponsible, reiterating that he has never interfered in political matters.
