A fresh internal conflict has erupted within the Trinamool Congress after a major split in its legislative wing. TMC MP Mahua Moitra launched a strong attack on 58 rebel MLAs who supported expelled leader Ritabrata Banerjee and elected him as the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly.
Moitra called the rebels “completely useless” and accused them of benefiting from Mamata Banerjee’s popularity while lacking loyalty after the party’s electoral setback. She advised them to form their own identity and stop using the Trinamool Congress name. She also defended Abhishek Banerjee, stating that the party would “start afresh” without those she termed disloyal members, as the internal crisis deepens.
