

In the early hours of Friday morning at Chinnatekur, Kurnool, tragedy struck when a Vemuri Kaveri bus caught fire, claiming the lives of 20 passengers. The victims hailed from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, and Bihar. The blaze was so intense that identifying the charred bodies became extremely difficult.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu immediately took control of the situation. Despite some officials being on leave, he ensured that police, medical, and revenue departments were deployed without delay to assist the victims’ families. A special DNA testing lab was established in Mangalagiri, and by Sunday evening, 18 bodies had been identified and handed over to their families.
The government arranged special ambulances to transport the bodies safely to their respective states. In addition, ₹5 lakh compensation was announced for each bereaved family, and death certificates were issued on the spot to avoid further delays.
Thanks to CM Chandrababu Naidu’s swift and decisive response, the affected families received timely support and guidance in their hour of grief. Ministers and officials worked around the clock, displaying strong leadership and compassion in handling the tragedy.
