BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has alleged large scale irregularities in the tender process for the Radial Road-2 project, which has an estimated cost of ₹3,296 crore. The 81.15-km greenfield expressway is planned to connect the Budvel Outer Ring Road with National Highway 167N near Kodangal. KTR alleged that the project was divided into three packages and awarded to favoured companies under a pre-arranged agreement. He further claimed that eligible bidders quoting lower prices were deliberately sidelined in favour of firms that submitted higher bids, causing a potential loss of public funds.
In an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday, KTR demanded a comprehensive inquiry and cancellation of the tenders. He questioned how officials completed the technical evaluation, eligibility checks, financial bid assessment and award process for 13 bids within just five working days. According to KTR, the bidding deadline was September 30, while records reportedly showed that the evaluation and allocation process had been completed by October 8. He sought clarification on whether the submitted documents were properly verified and whether the decisions were supported by adequate records, alleging that the unusually rapid process raised suspicions of pre-fixing.
