K. T. Rama Rao expressed concern over the lack of awareness among voters regarding the SIR process, stating that Booth Level Officers appointed by the Election Commission have failed to effectively educate voters in many areas. He revealed that only 7% of the distributed SIR forms have been filled and submitted so far, raising doubts about completing the remaining 93% before the July 24 deadline. He demanded that the Election Commission of India extend the deadline considering the ground realities. KTR made these remarks during a meeting with the party’s special committee at Telangana Bhavan.
He further criticized the Election Commission for focusing only on duplicate votes within districts while ignoring cases where a single individual is registered in multiple states. He announced plans to visit Delhi to meet election authorities, demanding strict implementation of “one person, one vote.” He urged party-appointed Booth Level Agents to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the rolls. Awareness meetings have already been conducted in over 93 Assembly constituencies, with plans to cover the remaining areas soon. A delegation led by former MP B. Vinod Kumar also submitted a representation to Chief Electoral Officer Sudharshan Reddy seeking an extension of the SIR deadline.
