BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has responded to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks during his recent visit to Sircilla. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, KTR challenged the Chief Minister to agree to an inquiry by a Supreme Court or High Court judge into the assets of both families. KTR said that if any wrongdoing was established against his family, they would be prepared to face legal consequences. He also said that the BRS had earlier made a similar demand for a judicial probe into the assets of the two families.
KTR said his family had owned property from his grandfather’s time and pointed out that his father, K. Chandrashekar Rao, had held several elected and ministerial positions. He also explained that he had worked in the US for several years before entering politics and had started a hotel in 2006 with his earnings, claiming that it later expanded into multiple hotels. KTR further criticised Revanth Reddy over his remarks about his education and earlier work in the US. These statements were made as a political counter to the allegations raised by the Chief Minister in Sircilla; the competing claims about assets and their ownership have not been independently established in the statements cited here.
