Politics can often turn into a lonely battlefield when circumstances shift. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is currently confronting such a phase as he takes on a television news channel over an allegedly defamatory report. While Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy intervened promptly and ordered strict action against the channel, Komatireddy found limited visible support in his own stronghold of Nalgonda during the controversy.
What drew particular attention was the conspicuous silence of senior Indian National Congress leaders from the district, none of whom came forward publicly in his defence. Though a few Congress leaders from other districts spoke out in support, the absence of backing from local leaders and even from those considered close followers of Komatireddy has sparked intense political discussion. In Nalgonda’s political circles, this silence is increasingly being interpreted as a meaningful signal rather than mere neutrality.
