Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy criticized the Congress-led state government, accusing it of playing with the lives of farmers. Speaking at a press conference held at the BJP state office in Nampally, he alleged that paddy procurement in the state is being handled poorly. He expressed concern that farmers are being caught between middlemen, officials, and the government, leading to significant distress. He also stated that the BJP’s bus yatra prompted some response from the state administration.
Kishan Reddy clarified that the responsibility of paddy procurement lies with the state government, countering claims made by the Chief Minister and ministers that the Centre is not procuring grain. He noted that an agreement had been reached between the Centre and the state to procure 58.96 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the Kharif season. He further alleged that the state government is more focused on commissions and real estate activities rather than addressing farmers’ issues, and criticized the lack of a proper procurement plan.
