Amid intensified diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the nearly four-year-long Ukraine–Russia war, U.S. President Donald Trump met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Florida. Trump said the focus remains firmly on ending the conflict, without setting any fixed deadline.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Trump noted that negotiations are in their final stages. He also confirmed having spoken by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that the discussions were aimed at achieving tangible outcomes. Trump shared these remarks on his social media platform, Truth Social.
According to Trump, both Russia and Ukraine are seeking peace, and there is willingness on both sides to reach an agreement. Zelenskyy had earlier indicated that he would raise the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine and discuss a nearly finalized 20-point plan. He also expressed hope for broader European participation, though acknowledged time constraints.
