Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of the Bathukamma festival. In his statement dated October 9, 2026, he described Bathukamma as a distinctive cultural celebration that reflects the self-respect of women, the beauty of traditional songs and dances, and the state’s deep connection with nature. He noted that worshipping flowers as a manifestation of the divine makes Bathukamma unique among the country’s traditional festivals.
Rao said Bathukamma is an integral part of Telangana’s way of life, social traditions and cultural identity. The nine-day celebrations, beginning with Engili Pula Bathukamma and concluding with Saddula Bathukamma, bring women and families together for collective worship, songs and dances. He also recalled that the first Telangana government granted Bathukamma the status of a state festival and introduced the distribution of Bathukamma sarees as a gift to women. He further highlighted the welfare initiatives implemented by the then BRS government to protect women’s dignity and support their well-being.
