A historic political development is set to unfold in Tamil Nadu as Congress is poised to re-enter the state cabinet after a gap of 59 years. According to Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, two Congress MLAs—Rajesh Kumar and Viswanathan—will join the cabinet in the government led by actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay’s TVK, which has formed the government with the support of multiple parties.
Following the assembly elections, TVK fell short of a clear majority and formed a coalition government with support from Congress, Communist parties, VCK, and IUML. Initially, nine ministers were inducted, and a cabinet expansion is scheduled on Thursday. While CPI and CPM have already decided to stay out of the cabinet, VCK has stated that it will announce its decision after internal deliberations.
