Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly criticised Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the state’s drought concerns, alleging that the government failed to take timely preventive measures despite early warnings about El Niño. Addressing the media in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, she questioned why the government had not acted earlier and accused the Chief Minister of focusing on political criticism rather than addressing farmers’ difficulties. Kavitha demanded that the government provide 24-hour free electricity to farmers until at least the end of November. She also called for the immediate implementation of the promised ₹12,000 assistance scheme for agricultural labourers and demanded life insurance coverage for them. She warned that crop losses and a shortage of rural employment could force workers to migrate in search of work.
Kavitha also raised concerns about irrigation, drinking water and electricity generation. She demanded timelines for completing the Palamuru–Rangareddy project, repairing the Medigadda barrage and completing the Mission Bhagiratha drinking water programme. She questioned the reported move to privatise components of the Yadadri power plant and sought details of the government’s agreement with Power Mech. She further alleged that the government had failed to make adequate arrangements to purchase electricity from surplus-power states. In addition, Kavitha criticised BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao over his letter seeking an inquiry into Prathima Srinivas and accused him of abandoning people who had supported the party. These statements represent Kavitha’s allegations and political views; the claims have not been independently verified here.
