Political developments in Karnataka turned dramatic after reports emerged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was prepared to resign following directions from the Congress high command. Ministers and MLAs gathered at the CM’s official residence ‘Cauvery’ in Bengaluru on Wednesday, urging him not to step down. However, Siddaramaiah reportedly made it clear that he would not reverse his decision. His office has already invited ministers for a crucial breakfast meeting scheduled for Thursday morning, adding further suspense to the unfolding political situation.
Meanwhile, speculation over a possible leadership change intensified with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s supporters celebrating outside his residence, raising slogans hailing him as the “next Chief Minister.” Congress Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala denied reports of leadership discussions, stating that only Rajya Sabha and MLC elections were discussed in Delhi. At the same time, several leaders warned that removing Siddaramaiah could trigger unrest within the party and among supporters across the state.
