ECI Alloted Torchlight symbol to Kamal Haasan MNM party

The Election Commission of India has taken a key decision regarding the allocation of party symbols, reaffirming the Torchlight symbol to actor politician Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam ahead of the 2026 elections. The party had earlier contested the 2019 Lok Sabha and 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections using the same symbol. With the upcoming electoral battle in view, the Commission has once again allotted the Torchlight symbol to MNM.

Expressing his happiness over the decision, Kamal Haasan said the Torchlight represents the party’s commitment to dispelling darkness and bringing light into society. Founded with the objective of ushering in political change in Tamil Nadu, Makkal Needhi Maiam is currently part of the DMK led alliance in the state. The reallocation of the symbol is seen as a morale boost for the party cadre ahead of the next electoral contest.
