The local body elections in Andhra Pradesh have entered a crucial phase, with the nomination process for municipal elections completed and polling scheduled for the 28th of this month, according to the report. Notifications have also been issued for Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections. Political parties are working to finalise candidates based on constituency reservations and seat-sharing arrangements. Developments during the municipal election process have added to the significance of the upcoming ZPTC and MPTC contests, particularly in Kadapa district.
The race for the Kadapa Zilla Parishad chairperson post has drawn attention after the seat was reportedly reserved for the general category. Dushyant Reddy is said to be the likely YSRCP candidate and is expected to contest from the Lingala ZPTC constituency. On the TDP side, district president Devagudi Bhupesh Reddy is among the leading contenders. Kamalapuram MLA Putta Chaitanya Reddy and Varadarajula Reddy’s brother from Proddatur are also reportedly in the race. The TDP is said to be weighing its options carefully in a district where YSRCP has traditionally maintained a strong presence. Official announcements from both parties are expected in the coming days, but the reported candidate choices have not yet been formally confirmed.
