Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has filed a memo in the CBI Court in connection with the disproportionate assets case, requesting exemption from personal appearance. Earlier, the court had directed Jagan to appear in person before November 14, following his Europe tour. With the deadline approaching, Jagan submitted a memo through his counsel seeking relief from personal attendance.
In his plea, he mentioned that his court appearances require extensive security arrangements by the state administration, which places an unnecessary burden on government machinery. He further stated that if the court insists on personal appearance, he is willing to comply, or alternatively, he can attend the proceedings via video conference if permitted.
The CBI court is expected to take up the matter for hearing soon.
