YSR Congress Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is reportedly planning another major padayatra in 2027, two years before the 2029 Assembly elections. Former minister Perni Nani revealed that preparations have already begun for this statewide walkathon, similar to Jagan’s iconic “Praja Sankalpa Yatra” from 2017–2019. The earlier yatra, which began on November 6, 2017, at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya, covered 3,648 km across 13 districts, 134 constituencies, 231 mandals, and 2,516 villages — and is widely credited for bringing YSRCP to power in 2019.
After facing defeat in the recent elections, the party is pinning high hopes on Jagan’s next padayatra to reignite enthusiasm among cadres and reconnect with people. Many YSRCP leaders believe his direct outreach could help rebuild the party’s lost momentum. While Jagan has stayed mostly out of public view in recent months, party sources say he’s gearing up for district tours and later, a state-wide yatra that could last until the next elections. Whether this renewed effort can revive the party’s fortunes will be known only in the coming years.
