Iran Warns US Against Ground Offensive Vows Strong Response Over Kharg Island

Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, stating that any attempt to launch a ground operation or seize Kharg Island would invite serious consequences. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the existing understanding between the two sides is clear and contains no ambiguity. He asserted that the responsibility for managing the Strait of Hormuz rests with Iran and that the matter will continue to be discussed with Oman and other regional countries. Tehran also maintained that there is no scope for the United States to violate the agreed terms.

Meanwhile, international media reports suggest that US President Donald Trump is reviewing options to expand military action against Iran, including a possible operation targeting Kharg Island. Security analysts believe that while the United States may possess the capability to capture the island, maintaining control would be difficult due to the threat of Iranian missile and drone attacks. Located about 55 kilometres off the coast of Bushehr Province, Kharg Island handles nearly 90% of Iran's crude oil exports, making it one of the country's most strategically important energy hubs.
