Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that the United States sent a counterproposal after initially rejecting Tehran’s peace plan. According to Araghchi, discussions between the two sides are continuing, and Iran will provide an official response soon. He reiterated that Tehran remains open to diplomatic negotiations to end the conflict but warned that Iran would respond firmly if the United States launched military action against it. The latest exchange of proposals signals continued diplomatic efforts despite persistent disagreements between Washington and Tehran.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said on October 8 that Washington would not launch attacks against Iran before the November 3 midterm elections, citing ongoing discussions with Tehran and expressing confidence that the conflict could end soon. However, military developments remain a concern, with media reports indicating that additional US naval forces could move towards the Middle East, including the possible arrival of another aircraft carrier by late October. The situation remains fluid, and the outcome will depend on whether both sides can bridge their differences through negotiations.
