

Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday during a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary College Field in Guwahati. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath at 11:40 AM. Along with Sarma, Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog were also sworn in as ministers.
The BJP-led NDA government returned to power in Assam for the third consecutive term. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, and several NDA leaders attended the event. Sarma stated that his government would work with complete dedication under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership to build a stronger, developed, and prosperous Assam. He first assumed office as Chief Minister in 2021.
