The High Court is set to deliver its verdict today on petitions challenging the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission, which was constituted to probe alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project. The petitioners have sought the quashing of GO No. 6 issued on March 14, 2024, which appointed the commission, along with the cancellation of its report. The commission was tasked with investigating alleged lapses in the construction and maintenance of key barrages, including Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla.
The petitions were filed separately by BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, former minister T. Harish Rao, IAS officer Smita Sabharwal, and former IAS officer S.K. Joshi. A bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin heard arguments from both sides and reserved the judgment on March 12. The verdict, expected today, is likely to have significant political and administrative implications in Telangana.
