Senior BRS leader Harish Rao has written to Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, reiterating his stand on the state's debt figures. Harish Rao said he stands by the statement made in the Assembly that the previous BRS government had borrowed ₹4.17 lakh crore during its nine-and-a-half-year tenure and that he is prepared to debate the issue at any forum. He also pointed out that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had earlier stated in the Assembly that the Congress government had borrowed ₹3.47 lakh crore.
Harish Rao questioned the figures mentioned in Jupally Krishna Rao's letter, which reportedly stated that the Congress government had borrowed only ₹1.77 lakh crore. He alleged that the Congress government had actually borrowed nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore through various means so far and urged it to stop spreading what he termed as misleading information. Harish Rao said he had enclosed the Assembly speech of the Chief Minister, RBI data, and his own Assembly remarks to support his claims.
