Former Telangana Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao launched a sharp criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the state's irrigation policy and recent remarks concerning farmers. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao alleged that the Chief Minister's statements contained misinformation and inflammatory political rhetoric. He urged the government to prioritise farmers' interests by ensuring the timely lifting of Godavari waters for irrigation instead of engaging in political confrontation.
Harish Rao also defended the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, arguing that adequate water levels currently exist to operate the Kannapalli pumps without closing the Medigadda barrage gates. He claimed that technical experts and irrigation officials had recommended measures to supply water to Ellampalli at minimal cost, but alleged that the government was ignoring these recommendations. He further disputed the Chief Minister's statements regarding the Ellampalli project and called for decisions to be based on technical assessments rather than political considerations.
