Guidelines Issued on Gram Panchayat Reservations

The Telangana government has issued a new Government Order outlining the reservation guidelines for the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections. The order finalises the rules for allocating reservations for Sarpanch and ward member positions, ensuring that the total reservations do not exceed 50 percent.
Ward member reservations for SC, ST, and BC categories will be determined based on caste population data. Similarly, Sarpanch positions reserved for BC communities will also follow caste-based population calculations.
Reservations for SC and ST candidates in Sarpanch posts will be assigned according to the 2011 Census figures. The respective RDOs will prepare and finalize the reservation list for Sarpanch positions within their jurisdictions.
