The Andhra Pradesh government has delivered welcome news to farmers by directing that payments for procured paddy must be credited to farmers’ accounts within 24 hours. Minister Nadendla Manohar warned that any delay in payments will lead to personal accountability for the responsible officials.
During a review meeting at the Rajamahendravaram Collectorate, Ministers Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh assessed the progress of Kharif paddy procurement. Minister Durgesh emphasized that the Civil Supplies Department must further improve operational efficiency. He added that free tarpaulins are being distributed through Rythu Service Centres to prevent crop damage due to rains.
To speed up procurement, the government has deployed a large number of workers in advance. He further explained that millers were instructed to accept paddy even if the moisture content crosses 17 percent, ensuring that no farmer faces difficulties. The ministers reaffirmed that payments will be made promptly without any delays once the paddy is collected.
