

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and retired Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri passed away on Tuesday at the age of 91. He had been undergoing treatment for health-related issues at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Dehradun. Political leaders and people across Uttarakhand expressed deep grief over his demise and remembered his contributions to the state and the nation.
Khanduri served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand between 2007–2009 and 2011–2012. A senior BJP leader, he also served as Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Before entering politics, he served in the Indian Army and retired as a Major General, earning widespread respect as “General Saab.” He was also elected as MP from Garhwal during the 16th Lok Sabha elections.
