Fishermen communities organised a massive boat rally in the Krishna River to express their support and gratitude towards the government for releasing funds under the ‘Matsyakarula Sevalo’ welfare scheme for the second consecutive year. Large numbers of fishermen participated in the rally with decorated boats, showcasing solidarity and appreciation for the financial assistance provided during the fishing ban period.
Under the scheme, the government is providing financial support of ₹20,000 to each fishermen family to help them manage livelihood challenges during the seasonal fishing ban. Last year, assistance worth ₹243 crore was extended to 1,21,433 families, while this year the government released ₹262 crore benefiting 1,30,796 fishermen families across the state.
