Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis strongly defended the Mumbai–Pune Expressway Missing Link project during the state's monsoon session, rejecting allegations that ₹7,000 crore had been wasted due to faulty construction of bridges and tunnels. He described the claims as baseless and said spreading such misinformation was not merely an attack on him but an insult to the people and the reputation of Maharashtra.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also criticized the opposition, accusing those targeting the project of acting against the state's interests. He said the engineering excellence of the Missing Link project has drawn international attention, with experts visiting to study it, while political opponents continue to damage its image. Shinde added that discrediting such major infrastructure projects harms Maharashtra's development and prestige.
