BJP MP Etela Rajender strongly criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his remarks on filling water in Annaram and Sundilla barrages. He alleged that the Chief Minister was speaking “ignorantly” by insisting on NDSA approval before proceeding. Rajender clarified that no pillars of the Annaram and Sundilla barrages had sunk and that, as per the NDSA report, grouting work had already been completed to ensure structural stability.
He further questioned whether the Chief Minister had consulted NDSA regarding filling water despite El Niño conditions. Rajender also criticized the CM’s language, calling it unbecoming of a leader, and accused him of insulting engineers instead of utilizing practical solutions. He suggested that water could be lifted at Kannepalli pump house by constructing a coffer dam at a cost of just ₹2 crore, even if water levels are below 94 meters.
