Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said that ensuring the participation of the Mudiraj community in his government is his responsibility. Speaking at a meeting held in Hyderabad on Friday to mark the birth anniversary of Panduga Sayanna, he said that the Mudiraj community had a significant presence in the Kodangal Assembly constituency and described its members as trustworthy. Referring to welfare measures, Revanth Reddy recalled that former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao had introduced rice at ₹2 per kilogram, while his government was providing fine rice to eligible beneficiaries. He claimed that 3.48 crore people were receiving fine rice under the scheme.
Remembering Panduga Sayanna, Revanth Reddy praised his role in standing up for poor and disadvantaged people. He said that during the Nizam’s rule, when local landlords and powerful individuals allegedly occupied poor people’s lands, Sayanna stood up against them and formed a group to resist their actions. The Chief Minister also noted that Sayanna did more than distribute grain to people, as he provided financial assistance for the marriages of poor girls. Revanth Reddy further recalled accounts stating that when Nizam’s police arrested Sayanna, the then Maharani of Wanaparthy paid a substantial amount to secure his release. The Chief Minister’s remarks highlighted Sayanna’s legacy of helping the poor and the importance of recognising the Mudiraj community’s contribution to society.
