Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that the ongoing rainfall deficit in the state is primarily due to the impact of El Niño. He stated that the government is making every effort to ensure adequate water storage in reservoirs. According to him, plans are underway to fill 22 reservoirs through the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project.
Bhatti said that pumping operations can be carried out only if sufficient water is stored in the Sammakka Barrage. Assuring farmers that there is no need to panic, he said the government is taking all necessary measures to safeguard irrigation needs. Referring to the Medigadda Barrage, he remarked that people are aware of during whose tenure it was damaged, adding that the government believes in delivering on its promises.
