As campaigning intensifies for the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis toured the state on Saturday and addressed a massive ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in support of BJP candidates contesting the Sirpur Kagaznagar Municipal Corporation elections. BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao, MP Godam Nagesh, MLC Malka Komaraiah, MLA Dr. Palvai Harish Babu, and several other senior leaders were present at the event.
Addressing public meetings in Karimnagar and Nizamabad municipal corporation areas, Fadnavis strongly criticised the Congress government, alleging complete failure in urban development. Referring to the BJP’s decisive victory in the Mumbai municipal elections, he urged voters to give the party an opportunity to bring similar development to Telangana’s cities. He asserted that only a “double engine government,” with coordination between the Modi-led central government and local bodies, can ensure effective utilisation of central funds and rapid municipal growth. With polling scheduled for February 11, the visit has gained significant political importance.
