A political controversy has erupted over Four Stars of Destiny, a book authored by former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane. The issue has triggered heated discussions in Parliament, with the government maintaining that the book has not yet been published, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed it is already available in the market. Amid the confusion, General Naravane responded by reposting a statement issued by Penguin Random House India on X, clarifying that the book is currently only in the pre-order stage and has not been officially published.
Rahul Gandhi, however, referred to an earlier tweet by Naravane to reiterate his claim that the book is available for sale. Responding to the renewed debate, Penguin Random House India issued another clarification on Tuesday, reaffirming that the book has not been published or made available in retail markets. The publisher explained that only books officially released and placed for sale across retail platforms are considered published. Notably, Penguin issued two clarifications within 24 hours, underlining the ongoing confusion surrounding the book’s status.
