Das Alleges Police Targeted His Family

Das has alleged on social media that police officials visited his family members and questioned them on various matters. He claimed that the visit was not a routine inquiry but an attempt to target his family and silence him. Das questioned why the BJP government in Puducherry was allegedly intimidating his family and sought clarity on the legal basis for such an inquiry. He also said that attempts to threaten or silence him would only strengthen his resolve to continue his fight.

Das also referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Puducherry visit two days earlier, during which he met the Union Territory’s Home Minister and Lieutenant Governor. He questioned whether the decision to visit his family was taken during that meeting. Police officials, however, have given a different account. A senior police officer confirmed that personnel had visited the residence of Das’s relatives but denied any harassment or threats. The officer said that visiting homes near important routes and collecting basic information is part of routine security measures ahead of Independence Day. The incident has therefore triggered two contrasting narratives, with Das alleging political intimidation and police describing it as a standard security exercise.
