Danam Verdict Questions Congress Stand- Harish Rao

BRS leader and former Telangana minister Harish Rao said the Supreme Court’s decision upholding Danam Nagender’s disqualification raises questions about what he described as the Congress party’s “double standards” on constitutional values. The Supreme Court dismissed Nagender’s plea and upheld the Telangana High Court’s decision disqualifying him under the anti-defection law.

Harish Rao said Rahul Gandhi has been speaking across the country about protecting the Constitution under the slogan “Samvidhan Bachao” and argued that the same principles should be followed in Telangana as well. He called on Rahul Gandhi to demand the resignation of other MLAs who defected to the Congress and ask them to seek a fresh mandate from the people. He also questioned whether “Samvidhan Bachao” is only a political slogan or reflects a commitment to constitutional principles.
