Congress Working Committee to Hold Key Meeting Today

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is scheduled to hold a key meeting at Indira Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, is expected to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, issues concerning the Election Commission and the prevailing political situation. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, CWC members and senior party leaders are expected to attend.

The meeting is likely to take up reports of differences within the Election Commission over the SIR exercise, along with changes to Form 6, voter registration-related concerns and objections raised by opposition parties. Congress is also expected to discuss its political and legal course of action regarding its demand for action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party may also consider further nationwide protests, legal action and public awareness programmes over issues it has raised regarding the SIR process.
