With municipal elections approaching, the Congress party has intensified its preparations with a clear focus on securing victory. As part of this effort, an extended TPCC executive committee meeting will be held at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.
The meeting will be chaired by TPCC chief and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, and attended by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Congress state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, and AICC secretaries. Key discussions will revolve around election strategies, candidate selection, and strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
Despite Congress performing well in the recent panchayat elections, the relatively strong showing by the BRS has prompted the ruling party to remain cautious. Determined to avoid giving any advantage to rivals, Congress aims to sweep all municipalities.
The party plans to shortlist six potential candidates from each ward or division and conduct surveys to identify the most capable contenders. Issues such as the renaming of the MGNREGA scheme, countering opposition allegations on Krishna and Godavari water disputes, and organizational restructuring are also expected to be discussed.
