Amid growing anticipation over the leadership transition in Karnataka Congress, a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting is scheduled to be held today at the KPCC office in Bengaluru. Party sources indicate that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is likely to be elected as the new CLP leader. With the Congress enjoying the support of 135 MLAs in the Assembly, the meeting has gained significant political importance.
AICC observers KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala have arrived in Bengaluru from Delhi to oversee the proceedings. Following the election of the CLP leader, DK Shivakumar and other senior Congress leaders are expected to meet the Governor. The developments are being closely watched as they could shape the future leadership structure of the Karnataka government.
