The Telangana Congress organised a 'Chalo Lok Bhavan' protest in Hyderabad under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud. The protest was held to condemn the detention of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other Opposition leaders, while demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. Senior leaders, including Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, MLA Danam Nagender and several party functionaries, participated in the rally wearing black badges.
As the rally approached Lok Bhavan, police stopped the protesters by erecting barricades. A brief confrontation followed when some Congress workers attempted to move past the barricades. Police detained Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Balamuri Venkat, Shabbir Ali, Rohin Reddy and several other Congress leaders before shifting them to Nampally Police Station and other police stations. Addressing the media before his detention, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the Centre was undermining democratic values and reiterated the party's demand for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
