Breaking its silence on Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, the Congress party has publicly extended its support to his demands. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the Congress shares Wangchuk’s concerns, particularly regarding the lack of accountability in the education system under the current government. He reiterated the party’s demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged collapse of the examination system.
Venugopal also appealed to Wangchuk to end his fast, citing concerns over his health condition. He assured that the Congress, along with other opposition parties, would continue to raise these issues and hold the government accountable. The party emphasized that Wangchuk’s concerns reflect a broader public sentiment and pledged to persist in its demand for reforms and ministerial accountability.
