Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay participated in his first public rally after assuming office, addressing a massive gathering in Tiruchirappalli. Thanking the people for electing his party to power, Vijay said he would work not merely as the Chief Minister but as a dedicated servant of the people. He expressed confidence that the public would continue to support his party in future elections and assured citizens that his government would remain committed to protecting state rights and secular values. Vijay also stated that while some compare his victory to that of former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran, he does not consider himself comparable to such a towering leader and would instead strive to follow the ideals of MGR, Anna, and Periyar.
During his speech, Vijay launched a sharp attack on the DMK and AIADMK, accusing both parties of misleading the people for decades. He alleged that family politics contributed to the DMK’s electoral defeat and claimed that opposition leaders were attempting to destabilize his government. Responding to a question about not wearing his trademark black-and-white suit at the rally, Vijay explained that the attire symbolizes transparency and simplicity in public life. He added with a smile that it is not a dress code reserved exclusively for senior officials.
