Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a massive welfare initiative aimed at upholding the dignity and self-respect of women. He stated that one crore women across the state will receive Indiramma sarees, with the distribution taking place in phases.
Launching the program on Wednesday, the Chief Minister personally handed over sarees to several beneficiaries. He said the sarees would be distributed in rural areas until December 9 and later in urban areas from March 1 to March 8, coinciding with Women’s Day celebrations.
Revanth Reddy paid rich tributes to Indira Gandhi, recalling her significant contributions such as bank nationalization, land reforms, and housing for the poor. He pointed out that his government is moving forward with the same inspiration, empowering women through initiatives like petrol bunk ownership and turning 1,000 RTC buses into women-led enterprises.
He added that the government aims to transform one crore girls into future millionaires through welfare and empowerment programs. The first phase will see 65 lakh sarees distributed, with the remaining to follow once production is completed.
The Chief Minister also urged women ministers, MLAs, and officers to wear the Indiramma saree and become ambassadors of women’s pride and empowerment.
