The ruling Congress party registered a decisive victory in the Gram Panchayat elections held across Telangana. Newly elected sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members formally assumed office on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated the newly elected representatives and urged them to provide good governance at the grassroots level. He expressed hope that they would transform villages into model panchayats and earn the trust of the people. The Chief Minister conveyed his wishes through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The elections were conducted in three phases on November 11, 14, and 17. Congress emerged as the largest party, winning 6,821 seats. The opposition BRS secured 3,520 seats, while the BJP won 703 seats. Other parties and independents accounted for 1,654 seats. The results underline Congress’ strong performance at the grassroots level in Telangana.
