Veteran Bihar leader Nitish Kumar, who served as Chief Minister for many years, has taken oath as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament in New Delhi on Friday. The oath ceremony was held in the presence of the Rajya Sabha Chairman. This development marks a significant turning point in Bihar’s political landscape.
Following his entry into the Rajya Sabha, Nitish Kumar is expected to resign from the Chief Minister’s post soon. He arrived in Delhi on April 9 along with his close associates. According to political sources, he may officially submit his resignation between April 13 and 14.
By becoming a Rajya Sabha member, Nitish Kumar has achieved a rare milestone. He is now among the few leaders in India who have served as members in all four major legislative bodies - State Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
