N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a 10% increase in diet charges for students studying in government hostels and Gurukul institutions across Andhra Pradesh. During a review meeting with Welfare Department officials at the State Secretariat, he directed that the revised rates be implemented from the second quarter of the current financial year, despite suggestions from the Finance Department to defer the hike until next year.
The Chief Minister said education is the key to transforming the lives of students belonging to BC, SC, ST, and Minority communities. He stressed that along with quality education and better infrastructure, nutritious food is essential for students' overall development. The government, he said, is committed to strengthening welfare measures for socially and economically weaker sections.
